FROM THE OCTOBER 9, 2007 MEETING OF THE PRINCEVILLE BOARD OF EDUCATION...
Text Box: The Princeville Board of Education began their regular meeting recognizing some of the good things happening in the Princeville School District.  Princeville Applause was given to Lyndsie Foster, PHS Senior— for placing sixth in the State Horse Judging Career Development Event (CDE) out of 257 participants; Marianna DeBolt, Rose Elbus, Kim Friedman, Charlene Wagner, PGS Teachers—for their dedication in attending the three-week Illinois Writing Project class this past summer and their inspiration in sharing their knowledge with other teachers through writing workshop; Like Bonomo and her students—for their successful and popular “Casting Call”; Ruth Schelkopf—for her impressive “Teacher Feature” in the Peoria Journal Star;  PGS and PHS band students—for their hard work to provide exceptional homecoming performances; Robert Tacadina—on his retirement as PHS custodian.

The PRINCEVILLE PRAISE award was presented to Dave Gibbs for his many years of service to the Princeville Schools.

In action items, the Board approved the FFA out-of-state field trip, approved a three-year lease for Surf Control web filter software, and authorized the Superintendent to prepare the annual levy for the School District.

Other action items included approval of a proposal with Bob Duckworth Electric for outside bus receptacles at the transportation garage.  These receptacles will be used as an alternative to building an additional storage building in which to house buses.

A contract with Resource Management Services, Inc. for clinical services to be provided in the School Mental Health Support Grant received by the District from the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority.

Personnel items included the employment of Anavelia Mauricio and Michele Haste in the shared position of Migrant Special Services Secretary.  Adam Will was employed as a custodian, and Cristina Delac as an accompanist for 7th and 8th grade chorus.

The 2007 Princeville School District Report Cards were presented by Superintendent Hanneken.  The report cards are available on the Princeville District website, www.princeville326.org.  Mrs. Hanneken also provided information concerning the reimbursement request submitted to the Princeville Village Board of TIF 2 and presented the long-range plan for life safety.

Board member Steve Rees reported on the most recent ELPAC and PRIDE meetings.  He and Darin Cowser discussed the first meeting of the Outdoor School Facilities Committee. The Board discussed the focus group comments from the September State of the Schools school community meeting.  Board member representative attendance at Princeville Village Board meetings was discussed as a means to foster communication between the two boards.

Mrs. Michel, PGS Principal, reported that Princeville’s fourth graders were randomly selected to participate in the National Assessment of Education Progress pilot assessment.  This required national testing will take place on February 28, 2008.
