BOARD OF EDUCATION MINUTES – July 17, 2008

1) Call to Order:

President Stoller called the Princeville Community Unit School District 326 Board of Education special meeting to order on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 7:05 p.m. at the Lillie M. Evans Town Library.

4) Board Discussion:

This special meeting was a joint board meeting conducted with the Governing Boards of the Village of Princeville and the Lillie M. Evans Library. Representatives of the Akron Townhouse School Project, the Heritage Museum, and CCOP group were also in attendance. Each board shared recent accomplishments and plans for the future. Superintendent Colyott introduced the new high school principal, Mr. Rich Thole. A presentation was given by Mr. Jim Ditteo of “Winning Communities”, covering a proposal much like the Mapping and Strategic planning done in the past. A question and answer session followed the presentation. Commitment to the project was discussed, with a group consensus that at least a part-time Economic Development Coordinator would be needed by the Village. A monetary “investment” commitment was also discussed by the Boards. The school board verbally agreed to make a monetary commitment to the project, along with the Library board. The Village board will discuss a monetary commitment at their next meeting. There will be strategic planning meetings, public meetings and committee meetings throughout the process.
