The PRINCVILLE PRAISE Award was presented to Ron Williams for his leadership and support in the improvements made to the softball field. This award is given to individuals in the Princeville School District Community who have shown exceptional service to the District and its students.

In action items, the Board approved the out-of-state horticulture field trip, the renewal of memberships in the Illinois High School Association and the Illinois Elementary School Association, and attendance at the out-of-state National Migrant Conference. The 2007 summer migrant grant, the March grant report, and the student insurance carrier for 2008-09 were approved.

The Parent Teacher Advisory Committees were approved for both schools. The PHS Parent-Teacher Advisory Committee includes Gayle Brackett, Mike Rinella, Diana Williams, Jeannie Jones, Jessie Hill, Monica Baer, and Jim Colyott. The PGS Parent-Teacher Advisory Committee is Hilary Melick, Anne Bosch, Molly Cox, Kathy Allin, Kristy Wooden, Carol Baer, Darlene Herrmann, Gayle Brackett, and Becky Michel.

The 2007-08 amended year calendar was approved. The last full day of student attendance will be May 23. May 27 will be a teachers’ institute, with report card day on May 28.

In other business, the Board approved the District Three-Year Technology Integration Plan, the purchase of a transportation van, and the letting of bids for PHS student lockers and a bus lease. The Board also approved Superintendent Kathy Hanneken to act in the Board’s best interest to allow summer bid projects to begin after the successful bid is determined. This will allow the official acceptance of the low bidder at the May board meeting, yet plans for the projects may begin earlier.

In personnel action, the Board accepted the resignation of teacher Kathrin Stewart and approved the employment of Heidi Tovey as an instructional aide.

An update on the Princeville District Strategic Plan was provided. Math textbooks for PGS were recommended and will be on display for the next month. The textbooks were selected by a teacher committee and will be partially purchased with State of Illinois Textbook funds.
