Dear PGS Families,

We are off and running and excited to have begun another school year.  As I walk through the building, I have been so impressed with every classroom.  It is clear our students are ready to learn and excited about the new school year.  I always dread the opening of school just a little; much like some of our students do, but once everyone is here I find it so very exciting.

We have new staff this year.

*   Rachel Boudreau: 1st Grade

*   Jodee Bauman: 5th Grade

*   Susan Roe: 5th Grade

*   Sabrina Sutherland: Teaching Assistant

We also have staff that has changed grade levels

*   Angela Colyott: 3rd Grade

*   Lisa Kerr-Bisbee: 6th Grade

As most of you know we were very busy this summer making the building ready for teachers and students.

*   In the K-1 wing we will have new bathrooms very soon

*   The grade school building has been reorganized to better meet the needs of collaboration at grade levels

*   We have painted many of the classrooms, so everything is bright and cheery

*   We have four classrooms with new smart boards

*   Our Jr. High Technology lab is complete with new computers and monitors

*   Many classrooms have increased the number of computers available to the students

*   The best news of all is that we are air-conditioned!!

o       It is a pleasure to see teachers and students functioning so well all the way to the end of the day

o       Send a sweater/sweatshirt to school for your child as some of them are cold.

Please remember that if your child takes any medication at school we must have a doctor sign a medication form complete with dosage information.  We also need all drugs in the original prescription bottle with the same dosage and administration information on the bottle.  We do not have a nurse on staff and cannot be making decisions about whether to give your child medication on a when needed basis.  We feel very strongly that decisions about giving a child medication is a decision made with your physician.

On the same note, we must have documentation of any food allergies your student may have in order to keep them safe.  Please send a parent note with this information immediately and follow up with a note from your physician as soon as possible.
